Mechanical Anisotropy in Steels for Pipelines
نویسنده
چکیده
There has been a huge expansion in the laying of pipelines for the transmission of fossil fuels over large distances and in dire environments. One particular problem associated with the steels used to fabricate the pipes is that of the anisotropy of mechanical properties, especially the toughness. This review represents an attempt to critically assess the steels and the orientation dependence of their mechanical properties, with the aim of establishing a basis for further progress.

متن کاملEffect of Heat Input on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties in Friction Stir Welding of HSLA-60
High-strength low alloy steels are a class of steels used in applications that require high strength and good weldability, including ship hulls, gas pipelines and oil industry. One way to build parts is fusion welding that create areas with a large grain size in the heat-affected zone and increased susceptibility to hydrogen cracking. One way to solve this problem is to use solid state friction...

متن کاملA Review of Fatigue Crack Growth for Pipeline Steels Exposed to Hydrogen
Hydrogen pipeline systems offer an economical means of storing and transporting energy in the form of hydrogen gas. Pipelines can be used to transport hydrogen that has been generated at solar and wind farms to and from salt cavern storage locations. In addition, pipeline transportation systems will be essential before widespread hydrogen fuel cell vehicle technology becomes a reality. Since hy...
متن کاملStochastic Analysis of Seepage through Natural Alluvial Deposits Considering Mechanical Anisotropy
The soil is a heterogeneous and anisotropic medium. Hydraulic conductivity, an intrinsic property of natural alluvial deposits varies both deterministically and randomly in space and has different values in various directions. In the present study, the permeability of natural deposits and its influence on the seepage flow through a natural alluvial deposit is studied. The 2D Finite Difference c...
